Owning an Original Oil Painting

We all want to be inspired. Make your work or home environment the best and most enjoyable to live in every day by adding art that uplifts and reflects your personal values.

My paintings are made by applying multiple layers of oil colour, first "modelling" a monochrome underpainting, then glazing many layers of pure pigment. This technique results in the vibrancy and subtleties of colour, as well as the smooth gradations of light and dark.

Commission a Painting

You may have thought of a theme, an idea or a specific subject for an inspiring painting and would like to see it become a reality. A commissioned artwork is an ideal way to achieve this by watching the progression of the oil painting develop over various stages as it becomes realized. You may wish to own a classical portrait painting of someone special and perhaps one of yourself. I can work from a photograph or a selection of photos to achieve the desired result. Alternatively, if you would like to own an original oil painting of any one of my digital paintings, let me know. Whether the oil painting is for a commercial or home environment, I can produce the artwork to suit your specific requirements, large or small. Feel free to enquire about the process involved; in creating the artwork you would be happy to own.

Art Materials

The oil paints I use are predominantly Old Holland providing the best pigment saturation. The painting substrates I have used in the past have been quality panels and Belgian linen. Currently, I am using an ultra-smooth polyester canvas for large paintings and plywood for smaller pieces. The ultra-smooth surfaces provide a perfect surface for fine detail and smooth glazes. As expressed by art conservators "Polyester is a modern surface solution for the professional painter. Standing apart from its linen and cotton counterparts, it isn't affected by moisture and experiences less temperature-related expansion and contraction than cotton or linen. Perfect for painters in humid areas. Its synthetic nature creates a stable and chemically compatible environment. Polyester is now used by art conservators for relining old delicate canvases, as a result."
